For our 4 night vacation to Miami, we decided to use our trusty Name Your Own Price again. It was a lot more difficult than Louisville, which is expected. I started at $85 for Miami Beach area selection and that was a very long stretch. Since we're going to the everglades and Key West too, we decided to save money and included Miami downtown too. Finally, we got the Marriott Courtyard in Downtown for $139 per night.
The Marriott Courtyard Miami Downtown hotel would rank between 3.5 to 4 stars. Unlike others I have been to, it was not in the middle of a renovation and was very clean. The downstairs lobby was not grand, but the bar area was great. The rooms were clean and the beds used fitted sheets. They were also pretty big, sofa bed and a king sized bed, which was quite comfortable. The housekeeping was very quick and efficient. We requested additional towels but it was brought up immediately. As with other Courtyards, I believe the main clientele are business people and it definitely should satisfy them. Big plus... the internet was free. Lastly, the view was not much to look at but I was not expecting that. This hotel strengthens my belief that super high-end hotels end up nickel-and-dime-ing its clientele. 4 nights at $10/night for internet would have added up fast when paying with your own savings.
The drive to the beach was not bad. We did not drive during standard rush hour time and it took us about 30 minutes. Note: Driving through Venetian island comes with a toll. Arriving at the hotel was a little difficult the first time, but no more than navigating any other big city downtown. (Some one-way streets got the best of us)
Now the products...
Bathroom: Paul Mitchell Shampoo, Conditioner and Lotion
Never used that brand of lotion before... it was alright. I still prefer my Bath & Body Works.
Bed: Large and comfortable! The covers seemed thin but when in Miami it was perfectly adequate. Enough pillows (4), despite the smaller sizes.
Internet: FREE!!! Speed was good enough for us to watch Netflix.
Note: If you need two double beds, Priceline might not be the best option because the reservation is made for a king bed. The Courtyard did not have any double bed rooms available when we were there.
