While in Louisville, C and I went to Smoketown USA. We had read good reviews on yelp.com and thought it was a good place to grab a meal. It was totally worth it! Delicious ribs!
The decor was eclectic; reminding me of something one would find in New Orleans rather than Louisville. Most of the decor was actually for sale too, which was kind of cool. While we were there, there was live entertainment from a solo guitarist. We made a request with preparation that it could have been murdered; he did not. It was cool he was open to requests & at our table there was a list of songs he knew.
The restaurant food is similar to the traditional restaurants of that area, so I was told. Traditional american meals. So we ordered the Flintstone (Beef) ribs with jalapeño cornbread, mac & cheese, soul greens & potato salad. The jalapeño cornbread was delicious, with just the slightest (in my opinion) kick, which is why I highly recommend it. Now the other sides were quite good too. Potato salad was kind of creamy and the mac & cheese was delicious. Over all, satisfactory.
As for the ribs themselves, those were done very well. Especially, if you eat it with the BBQ sauce that is at your table. The sauce is generally well marinated into the meat, but because of how thick the meat is, it can be difficult. Therefore, it met and actually went beyond my expectation in marination. So it was absolutely worth it. So worth it!
